City subcommittees to meet in fourth week of the month

Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 11:32 am

Citizens are invited and encouraged to attend

The City Council has moved its subcommittee meetings to the fourth week of the month.
Since resuming the subcommittee meetings late last year, the committees had met on the third week.

The Government Subcommittee will meet at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday; the Utility Subcommittee, 5:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday.

During the Feb. 10 City Council meeting, City Clerk Joan Kovar asked to move the meetings to the fourth week to help with her work schedule. Kovar has assumed extra duties in the absence of a city administrator.

The third week, she said, did not allow for gathering topics for discussion because it was so close to the regular City Council meeting, held the second Wednesday each month at 7 p.m.
Next week, the Governmental Subcommittee meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23. The Utility Subcommittee meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The subcommittee meetings are not under the same strict guidelines of the Open Meetings Act and legal notice of the meetings is not required. The subcommittee meetings consist of three Council members and city department heads. The public is encouraged to attend and discuss the business of the city.
