Dona Meysenburg

Dona D. Meysenburg, 76, of David City died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at david place in David City.

Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City, with Father Bernard Kimminau, celebrant. There will be a private family burial. Lunch is at Par IV Golf Course.

Dona was born July 28, 1933, in David City to James H. and Emma T. (Selzer) Gans and graduated from David City High School.

On Sept. 28, 1954, Dona married Robert F. Meysenburg at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City, where they spent their entire lives. She served as Deputy

County Clerk of Butler County for 34 years, retiring in 2007.

Dona is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Rex) Minert of David City; one brother, Richard (Jody) Gans of Brainard; sister-in-law, Bette Meysenburg of Torrance, Calif.; brother-in-law, Doug Trowbridge of O'Neill; three grandchildren, Sabrina Minert and special friend Ryan Sabata of Lincoln and Robert and Tyra Minert of David City; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert (1990); sister, LaVina Trowbridge; and infant sister, Gwendolyn Gans.

Kenneth Brezina

 SCHUYLER - Kenneth J. Brezina, 66, of Schuyler died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Merrick Manor in Fremont following a two-year battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, Feb. 18, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Burial was at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery at Schuyler.

Pallbearers were Jason Shannon, Kent Grotelueschen, David Proskovec, David Novak, Allen Horejsi, Marv Roubal, Mark Arps and Andy Griess. Honorary Pallbearers: Danielle Brezina, Matt Brezina, Caleb Brezina, Mitch Brezina, Megan Brezina, Austen Brezina and Madison Brezina.

Kenny was born Oct. 24, 1943, in Columbus to James R. and Delores (Ludvik) Brezina. He attended Butler County District 10 School, David City High School and Schuyler High School.

On Feb. 25, 1963, he married Judy Weber at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler and they lived in the Linwood area, where Kenny farmed, until moving to Schuyler in 1994.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting antique tractors. Kenny had served on the District 10 School Board and had been active in the Schuyler FFA Alumni Association. He was a member of the Nebraska Gas Engine and Antique Tractor Association. Kenny was a retired farmer and truck driver.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Judy, of Schuyler; four sons, John Brezina and his fiancee, Jodi Zebert, of Grand Island, Jim Brezina and Carla Korth of David City, Michael Brezina and his wife, Lori, of Linwood and Bill Brezina and his wife, Nichole, of Schuyler; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia (Mrs. Mike) Griess of Sutton.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald; and one sister, Delores Gates.

Fred Helman

Fred S. Helman, 86, of Lincoln, formerly of David City, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, in Lincoln.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City on Monday, Feb. 22, with Father Bernard Kimminau, celebrant. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Fred was born at Brainard on Jan. 28, 1924, to Frank and Mary (Moravec) Helman. He graduated from Brainard High School.

On Oct. 8, 1945, Fred married Lucille Jisa at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. They moved to David City in 1964. Fred sold and delivered gas for Farmers Co-Op. He also worked for Burlington Railroad, but his true love was being a farmer. In 2007, Fred and Lucille moved to Lincoln.

Fred was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Donna Helman of Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law, Marcene and Ron Polivka of Lincoln, Carol and Tom Bogner of Gilbert, Ariz., Karen and Bill Tredway of Lincoln and Bonnie and Bob Schulte of Omaha; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Rita Helman of Brainard; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert, Adolph, Frank and Jim Helman; and sisters, Helen Krenk, Rose Hottovy, Mary Sypal, Lillian Brym, Amelia Novak, Agnes Swanda and Alice Behne.

Mary Wilbur

OMAHA - Mary Ellen Wilbur, 68, of Omaha died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Feb. 16, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Omaha. Burial was at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha.

Mrs. Wilbur was born March 15, 1941, in Fairbury to Maurice and Dorothy Huff. She graduated in 1959 from Marietta High School, rural Bellwood.

She taught school before marrying William "Bill" Wilbur in 1964.

Survivors include her husband; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Lt. Cmdr. Blake Ellis and Jill and Lt. Cmdr. Dave Vodicka; four grandchildren, Olivia, Camden, Ava and Libby; sisters and brothers, Thomas Huff of York, Charles and Martin Huff of Lincoln, Martha Feit of Beatrice and Monica Sloan-Haning of Kansas City; and mother-in-law, Margaret Wilbur of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Florence Kamenske

Florence A. Kamenske, 92, of Bellwood, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at David Place in David City.

Funeral Services were held Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bellwood United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mark Schutt officiating. Burial was at the Bellwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Bellwood United Methodist Church or Bellwood Volunteer Fire Department.

Florence A. West was born on Jan. 26, 1918, at Bellwood to Harry and Anna (Ladwig) West. She attended Bellwood schools and graduated from Bellwood High School.

She married Lloy Kamenske on May 15, 1941. Two children were born to this union.

Mrs. Kamenske worked for many years at Didier's Market in Bellwood as the front clerk. She also took on side jobs of hair styling/cutting in her home.

Florence enjoyed her cross-stitch work, needlepoint and embroidery and with her perfectionist style, she won many purple ribbons at the county fair. She was also known for her angel food cake. Raising flowers and traveling to the Black Hills on a motorcycle with her husband were some of her favorite memories.

She was a member of the Bellwood United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the local Widow's Club and a 50 plus-year member of Daughters of the Union Veterans.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Marilyn; three brothers, Harry West of Glenville, Pa., Jim West of David City and John (Pearl) West of Nevada, Mo.; one sister, Thelma Hascall of David City; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloy, in 1964; one daughter, Darlene, in 1954; and two sisters, Doris (infant) and Lois Backman.

Larry Good

Larry Joe Good of Rising City died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Butler County

Health Care Center in David City.

Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at Kracl Funeral Chapel in David City. Visitation is at 9 a.m. Thursday. Lunch will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall in David City.

Mr. Good was born in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Joseph M. and Eudora (Cooper) Good. He attended public schools in Topeka, Kan., and Grandview, Mo., graduating from Grandview High School. He attended Kansas City Junior College.

Larry played professional baseball for several years in the Chicago Cubs farm system playing second base for the Janesville Wisconsin Cubs and shortstop for the Blackwell Oklahoma Broncos.

He then toured and performed professionally in the field of country music for over 40 years, working with many of the Nashville legends and appearing in every state except Hawaii, with his bands the Countrymen and the Good Times. He co-founded Lari-Jon Music publishing company. In the mid-1980s he helped launch a TV country music show called "Country with a Touch of Brass," which was viewed throughout Nebraska.

Larry is survived by his wife, Jennifer Bockholt Good, of Rising City; one son, Larry Max Good of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Kathy Kenigson, and her husband, Roger, of Springfield, Tenn.; grandson, Jonathan Kenigson; granddaughter, Jessica Kenigson; and a sister, Dixie, and her husband, Bob Kelley, of Topeka, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
